Creating a legacy through my very own perfume was always on the list, until I created the most beautiful ‘forever’ item in my fragrance collection with Royal Perfumery – Floris.
Floris first started creating personalized scents in the 19th Century, and prides itself on their royal appointment that serves customers of the likes of Her Majesty The Queen amongst many other elites and politicians like Sir Winston Churchill. With their unique expertise, Floris creates a unique comprehensive bespoke fragrance service which can be completely tailored to your preference in the heart of London and the elegant Jermyn Street. I had the option to choose from three services – the first a Bespoke Perfume Design – this involves the creation of a 100ml bespoke Eau De Parfum with Certificate of Provenance and five repeat orders (£4,500). The second is the ‘Fragrance Customisation’, which involves a 100ML, bespoke Eau De Parfum with Certificate of Provenance (£450). The third option, and the one I chose was the ‘Together Fragrance Customisation’, which includes X2 100ML Customised Eua De Parfum with Certificate of Provenance (£800). My sister @Aneesa.sharif was also invited, so we opted for the ‘Together Fragrance Customisation’ and we both created perfumes that we LOVE!
The process started with a warm welcome from the Floris team, and Penny – our very well informed perfumer who has been with Floris for 6 years. ‘Together’, was a 3 hour appointment in a exclusive Floris perfumer. She spoke in detail about the history of Floris, the journey we were about to start and the different categories of scents that we could create. Following being presented with a huge selection of bases, we chose from 50 bases – this is the fries to your Filet-o-fish, there is no perfume without it. It could have been a difficult decision since I had so much choice but I limited it to Oud and Chypre. Completely opposites but decisive I stood, Oud was the final option since I wanted a very strong fragrance and so opted for the more dominant base. We then chose complimentary materials to add to the base. I chose woody Amber, marine, vanilla and musk creating a fresh, strong long-lasting fragrance. I found this to be quite difficult, since there were so many complimentary materials that I loved, but Penny really helped me in making a final decision since our consultation and so, objectives for the perfume was so thorough.
The experience demonstrated pure luxury, romance and exclusivity. Perfume is so intrinsic to one’s personality and plays a very important role in creating memories that last forever. One familiar smell catapults me into a moment from many years ago. I am sure this is something you have experienced too. Therefore, being able to provide the name of the person’s name and perfume, and being able to replicate that exact smell is a precious concept. It is absurd to me that the exact concoction is now stored in a ledger for me to request at any time I need a top up, for my great grandchildren to find out what the incredible Henna Sharif smelt like (Lol), and to continue to define history amongst the names of royals.
It was a beautiful experience to have been able to share this with my sister. I wholeheartedly believe that the cost of £800 for the ‘Together’ Bespoke Experience is very reasonably priced for the excellent service that we received, the memories that we made, and the fun that we had with Penny and the team. I’ve booked this experience for my friend who has recently got engaged to mark the occasion. I know that she is going to LOVE it and believe it is the perfect start to her engagement.
